How the rate works
Telegram publishes a baseline conversion rate for Stars that applies when users purchase Stars directly from Telegram in-app. The retail rate is roughly 50 Stars per US dollar, though Telegram has adjusted the rate over time and offers volume discounts on larger packs.
The actual price paid varies by:
- Purchase platform. Apple App Store and Google Play take a platform fee on in-app purchases, which is reflected in the user-facing price.
- Region and currency. The Stars rate is anchored in USD but settled in local currency at the exchange rate set by the payment processor.
- Pack size. Larger Stars packs typically offer a small discount per Star.
- Bot or merchant pricing. Merchants accepting Stars set their own prices, which may differ from the in-app cost.
